After working as a psychiatric and general nurse for over 25 years, I felt I needed to follow a new direction. This led me to train as a counsellor. I have completed an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling. I have worked in various diverse settings, such as the NHS, HM Prison Service, private, and charitable sectors; most recently working for an addictions charity as well as a well-known mental health charity as a volunteer counsellor. All these experiences have taught me a great deal about the human nature...and about myself. I like to think we are all unique individuals; we experience things differently - because of this I always treat my clients as individuals in a non-judgemental way. I work holistically - I appreciate the importance of mind, body, emotions, and soul.
My approach to counselling is humanistic integrative; I use various therapeutic techniques and methods such as Gestalt, Person-Centred, Transactional Analysis (TA), Psychodynamic approach, Attachment theory, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness, as well as combining other theories and models.
I can also provide counselling in Finnish.
